Itinerary
Take a sightseeing tour of Yerevan, the capital, to visit the most important historical, cultural, and tourist attractions, including Freedom Square, the Opera Theater, the Cascada Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Open Market. Visit the most important historical streets in Yerevan.
After breakfast, head to the Garni Pagan Temple, one of the most visited historical sites in Armenia. Built in the 1st century AD, it is the only temple still standing in Armenia after all pagan temples were destroyed when Armenia converted to Christianity in 301 AD. The temple was rebuilt and restored in the mid-20th century. Garni is located on a slope, offering a breathtaking view of the Geghama Mountains and the Azat River. Then head to the village of Garni, a traditional village steeped in Armenian culture and traditions. You'll taste traditional Armenian bread: lavash. You'll also have the chance to make your own. The journey continues to the medieval Geghard Monastery, located deep in the Azat Valley. Geghard has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.
Set off to visit one of Armenia's ten natural wonders and one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world, Lake Sevan, also known as the "Blue Pearl of Armenia," which rises 2,000 meters above sea level. A lunch suggestion at one of the lake's famous fish restaurants. Dilijan is located on the banks of the Aghster River for more than 20 km and at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. The valley is surrounded by the Lesser Caucasus Mountains from the north and the Semyonovka Mountain Pass from the south. Dilijan is famous for its exquisite hand-made carpets. The city has its own style of carpet design and some woodworking and ceramic shops on Sharambian Street (the old historical center of Dilijan) where visitors are encouraged to create their own souvenir You can also enjoy buying an incomparable collection of wonderful handicrafts when you visit Sharambian Street around the historical complex of the city, as this street contains some small shops where craftsmen work to provide a variety of beautiful souvenirs. Then visit the pearl of medieval Armenian architecture with its exquisite stone carvings at Goshavank Monastery, a massive 12th-century monastery complex on the hillside above Lake Gosh. We visit two churches within the complex, as well as admire the elegant carved decorations that adorn many of the paintings. There is also a shrine to the monastery's founder, Mukhtar Gosh.
